“Drive-Ins have been done to death.” I could heard that little photojournalist devil on my shoulder whispering into my ear.

That is coming from the guy who scours through photo books and spends hours online absorbing photography and has seen a ton of wonderful images made at drive-ins. I refer to the little whispering photojournalist as a devil because his attitude can be crushing. Just about everything has been tried by somebody else somewhere in the world – but if you let that stop you from telling a story, you'd never lift your camera to your eye, right? (Besides, your readers probably haven’t seen those other pictures, anyway.)

I spent an evening at each of the remaining four drive-in theaters in Oregon. It was great fun to photograph. Sometimes, that’s the place to start.
